ALVARADO — Betty (Bets) Brown Hey passed away on March 19, 2011. She was a resident of Alvarado since 1991 when she became owner of the historic “Bethany Farm.” Service: will be held on Saturday, April 16, at 1:00 p.m. at “Bethany Farm,” 712 NCR 810, Alvarado, TX 76009. Memorials: The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made the charity of your choice. Bets Hey was retired from the US Federal Government, General Services Administration, Fort Worth, where she worked for many years. A native of Amarillo, Texas, she was the daughter of Berl Medcalf and Goldie Olive Sanders. Bets graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1946 and remained active with the Brackenridge Eagle Alumni Association, San Antonio, Texas. There she was known as Betty Jean (Sandy) Sanders. Bets served as a US Air Force military wife and mother during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Survivors: daughters, Linda Brown Rivelis and Suzanne Brown Ollry, and son James Robert Hey. Step-children: Joanne Hey Smith, Winston W. Hey and the late Charlene Hey Ryken of the Houston area.
