Betty L. Bjork July 1, 1935 – January 5, 2022 Preceded in death by her parents John K. and Bertha (nee’ Riggs) Young, and brother Gail Young, Buffalo, NY. Survived by her sister, Hazel Ellsworth, Erie, PA; Betty’s children, Jay (Catherine) Bjork of IL, and Jeffrey Bjork, TX, her grandchildren, Abigail Bjork, Samuel Bjork, and many nieces and nephews. Betty was born in Memphis, TN but, spent her formative years in Jamestown, NY. She relocated to Fort Worth in the Wedgwood neighborhood in 1959 where she raised her family. After an illustrious career spanning over 40 years, Betty retired from the Fort Worth Housing Authority as Director of Assisted Housing in July 2005. She spent her subsequent years traveling the globe with her youngest son, Jeffrey, and when stateside, devoting time to her children and grandchildren spectating their activities and life’s milestones. Betty was a member of the Alta Mesa Church of Christ in Fort Worth before moving to Sunrise Assisted Living in June 2017. Betty loved spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with her kids and their families and playing games after feasting! Yahtzee was a perineal favorite! Her interests were boundless and her stories, a mosaic of experiences. Her vitality for life, infectious laugh and, bear hugs will be deeply missed by her family and all those fortunate enough to have known Betty. May her soul, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace.
