Blake Mcdonald

d. March 15, 2025

Blake McDonald of Colleyville, TX, a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, beloved brother, fun-loving uncle, and loyal friend, passed away at the age of 59. A man who truly lived life to the fullest, Blake never met a stranger—his infectious energy, quick wit, and signature “Blakeisms” left an unforgettable mark on everyone he encountered. With a personality as big as Texas, he was a friend to many, always bringing warmth, laughter, and an open heart to those around him. For 35 years, Blake was married to the love of his life, Debra, and together they built a beautiful family. He was an incredibly proud father to his two sons, Dillon and Connor McDonald, and a loving father-in-law to Brooklyn McDonald. One of his greatest joys in life was becoming Grandad to his precious granddaughter, Matilda Blake McDonald, who carries his name and will carry on his legacy. Blake is also survived by his beloved Aunt Sue McDonald Davis; his brother, Eric McDonald (wife, Celina McDonald); his sister-in-law, Melinda Wattam (husband, Bob Wattam); his brother-in-law, Jerry Barr Jr; his mother-in-law, Linda Cook; his father-in-law, Jerry Barr (wife, Barbara). He will also be deeply missed by his many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Barbara McDonald, whom he honored throughout his life with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for family. Blake was a man of passion and enthusiasm, always seeking out the next adventure. Whether it was cheering on his favorite teams, playing golf, racquetball, heading out for a hunting trip, or braving the cold on one of his beloved ice fishing trips, he thrived on competition and camaraderie. He also had a deep love for waterskiing and boating, spending countless days on the lake, making memories with family and friends. But perhaps nothing brought him more pride than being the best cook around—especially when it came to BBQ ribs. Blake poured his love into his cooking, just as he did with everything in life, always making sure those around him were well-fed, happy, and laughing. Above all, he loved being surrounded by those he loved, and creating lasting moments. Blake’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and an undeniable zest for life. He will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 21, 2025, with details to be announced.
