Rockwall, TX—Bobby Joe Thompson passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Rockwall at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Success, AR on November 17, 1936. He is survived by his wife Mary Katherine (Smith), two daughters Carla Bosteder (Steven) and Debra Reifschneider (Ryan), four granddaughters Lauren Pietrangelo, Cara Pietrangelo, Bethany Lasley (Taylor) and Kaley Vaughan, one sister Carolyn Sigmund, one brother Anthony Hopper. He was preceded in death by parents Orvil and Bernice (Pringle) Thompson, stepmother Wilma (Turnage) and brother Darryl (Peggy) Thompson. Mr. Thompson retired from Mallinckrodt, Inc in St. Louis in 1996 where he was a supervisor for 30 years. He was a member of Eastridge Church of Christ in Rockwall. He enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, helping others and all nature. Bob was known to all as a cheerful family man with mischievous sense of humor. Thanks to Shriners Hospital in St. Louis where Bob was given excellent care as a child suffering from polio in his leg. Their care allowed him to enjoy more activities throughout his life. In his last years of life emphysema and Alzheimer’s became more of a struggle but through it all he maintained his wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by many other family and friends. He was known for spreading joy and encouraging others to choose to have a good day every day. “Wonderful Bob” fit him perfectly. A memorial service in Belleville, IL is pending.
