Claude William Ellis, 81, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 5, 2004. Claude was born January 27, 1923 to C.F. and Lillian Wood Ellis, in Moffatt, Texas. He was born the oldest of eleven children. Claude William Ellis served his country in the United States Army during WW II. Later to serve the Lord in full time ministry for 45 years pasturing seven churches in Texas. Claude joined in marriage his lifelong partner Inus Louise Wininger in 1948 at the First Baptist Church of Waco. He was a loving and devoted father to their children Ronnie (deceased), Claudia (Walls), Randy and Ricky Ellis. Also known as Papa to seven grandchildren, Wendi, Natalie, Phillip, Noah, Lisa, Lindsey, Austin and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Preston; sisters, Barbara Biskup and Delores Dale; brothers, C.F., Bill H., Donald D., Kenneth L., Ben F. and James A. Ellis. Claude will be long remembered by family and friends for his wit, strong-will and boundless generosity. He was known as a man who would give anything needed even if he didn’t have it to spare. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home, of Cleburne. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at the First Baptist Church, of Troy, Texas, with viewing to begin at 11:00 AM. Serving as pallbearers will be his brothers, brothers-in-law, Wallace Biskup and Miller S. Dale and lifelong friends, Frank Thompson and Jack Dooley. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery, Troy, Texas. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, of Cleburne.
