Curtis L Davis Sr, son of the late Grover Davis and Virginia West, was born on August 27, 1937 in Franklin, Virginia. He departed this life Friday, October 10, 2014 at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Curtis attended school in Franklin, Virginia and served in the U.S. Navy and Army Reserve. He and his late wife Helen were married in 1961 and spent many years in Smithfield, Virginia, New Haven, Connecticut, and Wilson, North Carolina. He relocated to Desoto, Texas in 2009 where he was married to Adaline Arrington. Curtis was musician, a comedian and loved being the center of attention. There was never a moment where he didn’t want to play a song, sing a song or tell a joke to bring joy or a smile to someone’s face and heart.He retired from the Smithfield Packing Company in 2005. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Adaline Davis of Desoto, Texas, one daughter Lecia (Carl) Davis-Phillips of Chesapeake, Virginia, two sons Curtis Jr (Melissa) Davis of Desoto, Texas, and Grover Davis (Miranda McKnight) of New Haven, Connecticut. He leaves five grandchildren, Skylar Derouen, Martell Derouen, Louis Phillips, Meagan Snedeker and Trey Davis. Two step-sons, Derrick Dales of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Jesse Anstead of Spring Hope, North Carolina and 7 step-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.Curtis was predeceased in death by his late wife of 45 years, Helen Davis, his mother, Virginia West, his father Grover Davis, and two sisters, Earlene Harold & Virgie Moore. A memorial service will be held Saturday October 25, 2014 at 1 pm at Best Western Event Room located at 922 E. HWY 67, Duncanville, TX. 75137
