Donald "Red" Simmons

FORT WORTH — Donald “Red” Simmons, 75, passed away Tuesday April 26, 2011. Memorial Service: 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Southwayside Baptist Church, 301 East Thornhill. Memorials: Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of North Texas. Don was born January 26, 1936 in Covington, Texas to Doc and Lula Mae Simmons. He married Mary Broadway on December 7, 1956. Red was a retired coach and teacher from the Fort Worth Independent School District. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Delton Simmons, sister, Linda Bonnell Martin and son in law, David Wheat. survivors: his wife of 55 years, Mary Simmons; daughters, Kim Wheat, Pam Kidd and husband, Wayne; grandchildren, Jessica and Hillary Wheat and Shelby and Cody Kidd; 2 aunts and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
