Dorothy Nell Whalen

FORT WORTH — Dorothy Nell Cornelius Whalen, 85, passed from this life to receive her reward on Sunday May 19, 2013. Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home in Burleson. Visitation: 6-8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Dorothy was born on July 7, 1927 in Goldthwaite, Texas to William Thomas and Willie Mae Cornelius. She grew up with her sisters, Mary and Freida in the Texas hill country towns of Dublin and Carleton. She married Robert F. Whalen in 1954. Dorothy was a lifelong faithful member of the church of Christ for 35 years. She was a true servant of the Lord and ministered to many people by cooking delicious meals and visiting the sick and homebound. Dorothy was a wonderful mother and grandma. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Bob and her sister Mary. She leaves behind her son, Andy and his wife, Edie; grandchildren, Ethan, Shelby and Emily; sister, Freida Walker and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
