Burleson — Edwin G. Troutman, Jr. of Fox Lane Farm, Burleson, TX died Thursday, 20 Jan 2011 in a farming accident on his farm. Services: At his request, no funeral will be held, however, an informal reception is scheduled for Thursday, 03 Feb 2011, 6:00-8:00 pm, in the Huguley Hospital Loy R Norris Conference Room (ground floor). Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Community Hospice of Texas where he was active in making terminally ill patients’ final days as comfortable as possible or a charity of your choice. Born in Olathe, KS in 1927, son of Edwin G. Troutman, Sr and Maude S. Troutman, he attended the University of Arizona and served in the US Navy. After attaining his medical degree from the University of Southern California, he had a long and distinguished medical career: residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Chest Medicine at Bellevue Hospital, NY; Instructor of Medicine at USC; Instructor of Medicine, Asst. Professor of Medicine, Asst. Dean of Medicine, director outpatient dept., and asst. director of planning at University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX; Asst. Professor of Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School; Director of Medical Education and Research at Harris Hospital, Fort Worth, TX.; private medical practice since 1962 in Fort Worth and, subsequently, at Huguley Hospital. Other avid interests included history, especially US history and Sam Houston, and all things botanical. He was a life member of historical societies and botanical societies. In 2005, he attained a small rural tract of land near Burleson which quickly became Fox Lane Farm containing a fruit orchard, vegetable gardens, and plans for small livestock. At the time of his death, he was living his dream practicing his two favorite professions, medicine and working the land. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 53 years Mary (Flesher) Troutman. Survivors: He is survived by his sons, Clinton Troutman (Fort Worth) and David Troutman and wife Lindy (Burleson), grandchildren Kimberly Munoz (husband Ernest) and Stephen McDaniel (Burleson), greatgrandson Eric Munoz, brother Charles Troutman (wife Elsie) (Mimbres, NM), brother-in-law James Flesher (wife Mary) (Montana), nephews John Troutman and Bobby Flesher, nieces Glenda Rivera, Mary Gates, and Marilyn Buck, grandnephews and grandnieces too numerous to mention, and is missed by his beloved Australian Shepherd, Dinky.
