FORT WORTH — Elizabeth “Beth” Beeler, 90, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Interment will be in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery after a private family ceremony. Beth was born Feb. 2, 1925, to Eleanor Hafer Hartley and Ralph Hartley in Irvington, Ill. She lived in Kirkwood, Mo., during her school years, graduating from Kirkwood High School. She received a BS in home economics from the University of Missouri and did a year’s internship in Hospital Dietetics at the University of Michigan Hospital. She later returned to the University of Missouri as a dietitian in the dormitory system. She met her future husband, Jim, as a freshman at the University of Missouri at the beginning of World War II. They were married after the war and after Jim graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., in 1949. The first part of her married life was spent traveling from one naval station to another with her husband, Jim. During that time, they had four children, all of whom were born in different states. After Jim retired from the Navy and the family settled in Arlington, she devoted her time to volunteer work, starting as a Girl Scout leader and later becoming an officer in the Circle T Girl Scout Council. After moving to Burleson in 1987, Beth volunteered at her church and at Harvest House. Survivors: Her husband, Jim; her son, Jim and his wife, Linda, her daughters, Kathy Beeler, Karen Sulak and her husband, Wayne, and Patricia Berry and her husband, Andrew; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
