Elizabeth Kay Shelton

BURLESON – Elizabeth Kay Shelton went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 2015.  She was 61. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday, December, 12, 2015 at Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. Interment: Burleson Memorial Park. Kay, as she was known, was born on May 19, 1954 in Memphis TN.  She married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Shelton on March 3, 1973.  No matter where she lived – Memphis, TN, Nashville, TN, Carrollton, TX, Blanchard OK or Burleson, TX – Kay sought as many ways as possible to plug in with a local church to serve others. Kay had a heart to show the love of Christ to all people.  She participated in multiple mission trips in order to spread the gospel and love on people around the US, Germany and Tanzania.  With the spiritual gifts of mercy and hospitality, her home was always open to anyone – missionaries, church groups, church staff, small groups, friends, family and especially anyone who was hurting.  She also focused as much attention as possible on her beloved grandchildren. She is preceded in death by grandson, Tyler. Survivors: She is survived by her parents, Troy and Maxine Dodd, siblings Cheryl Riddick, Don Bailey and Melton Dodd, husband Daniel Shelton, children Amy Chambers and Wesley Shelton, grandchildren Caleb and Taylor Chambers, Emily, Anastasia and Elizabeth Shelton.
