BURLESON — Elmo Coleman, 84, passed away Wednesday September 21, 2011. Funeral: 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home in Burleson. Visitation: 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Interment: Burleson Memorial Park. Elmo “Junior.” was born March 25, 1927 in Weatherford, Texas, the youngest and last surviving of 8 children born to Finesse Elmo Coleman and Tina Lee Coleman. He grew up in Azle and Cleburne and graduated from Hamilton High School in Culver City, California. Junior moved back to Burleson in 1950 and was a founding partner in Coleman Brothers Feed and Poultry, one of the largest Purina distributors in Texas. He was very active in the Burleson community, coaching youth sports for almost 20 years. Elmo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who always had a helping hand for those in need. He set an example for hard work and compassion. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Minnie Faye Coleman. Survivors: daughter, Judy Fennell and husband, Jimmy; sons, Tommy Shepard, Michael Coleman and wife Angela and Bryan Coleman and wife, Dori; “PeePaw” to 5 grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion, Olivia.
