Ernest W Sheppard, lovingly known as “Bill,” passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, just shy of his 79th birthday. Born on July 14, 1946, in Manhattan, New York, Bill lived a life marked by service, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family.

A proud veteran, Bill served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he spent over two decades as a truck driver, earning a reputation for always having the cleanest truck in the fleet. His granddaughter Shelby fondly recalls their time together on the road, making memories and sharing in his joy of trucking.

Bill was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Betty Sheppard, with whom he shared 53 years of love and partnership. He was the proud father of Eric Sheppard and Tacie Thomas. Bill was also a loving grandfather to Dalton, Shelby Moore and her husband Rendon Moore, and his great-granddaughters, Jillian and Kehlani Moore, who were the light of his life.

Bill took great joy in watching his great-granddaughter Jillian play softball, always cheering her on with enthusiasm. He also cherished the simple moments spent sharing snacks with Kehlani, a time that brought them closer with each passing day.

Known for his striking blue eyes, Bill's gaze reflected the warmth, kindness, and wisdom that defined him. His captivating eyes were a signature feature, often noted by those who knew him, just like his incredible ability to connect with others, making everyone feel welcome and valued.

Bill had a deep love for America and a special fondness for eagles, symbols of the freedom and strength he held dear. His warmth, humor, and loyalty made him beloved by his friends and family, and he was always surrounded by those who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ann Welz, his father Ernest W. Sheppard, and his son Ernest Sheppard and Sister Valerie.

Though Bill requested no formal celebration of life due to the family being scattered, his legacy will continue through the memories and love he leaves behind. He will be remembered always and missed dearly.
