Ervin Louis Menant

Ervin Louis Menant, a native of New Orleans, LA, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at Discovery Assisted Living at Alliance Town Center in Ft Worth, TX, on June 8, 2026. He was 95.

Ervin spent his career in the engineering sector of AT&T where he was a lifelong employee and member of the Pioneers program. His career brought him throughout South Louisiana, New Jersey and Georgia. He retired to Clearwater, FL, before returning to his family roots in Mandeville, LA, and finally moved to Ft Worth,TX, to be near family in his last days.

Ervin graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1958 with honors in Geology and membership in the mathematics fraternity, Pi Mu Epsilon. He served America in the US Army as a radio operator in Germany during the Korean Conflict 1951-1953. Ever an advocate for those in need, he volunteered as an ombudsman for elder care facilities in Clearwater, FL, also serving on their Volunteer Traffic Police Department.

An avid sports enthusiast, Ervin boxed in the Golden Gloves program, was active in league bowling and competed in his neighborhood tennis league in Metairie, LA, where he lived for many years.He hand crafted a small pram sailboat on which he joyfully taught his daughters to sail, spent holidays camping with the family, played softball on his company team and emptied the floor of more than one dance hall with both his sister, Joyce, and his eldest daughter.

Ervin is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda Owen Menant, his three daughters: Cynthia (Cindy) Menant Berlier, Jamie (Menant) Mancuso and Kirsten (Menant Ledet) Crawford, and Jane Menant, also 95, the mother of his 3 girls. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Danielle (LeDet) Wagner, Bethany LeDet, Michelle (LeDet) Johnson, Alphonse LeDet III, Katie (Mancuso) Bavoso, Matthew Mancuso and Mark Mancuso, and his 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, Ruth and John (Red) Menant and sister, Joyce (Menant) Perrin.

The family wish to thank the nursing staff of Discovery Village at Alliance Town Center Assisted Living for their attentive care, the staff and residents of Discovery Independent Living for their loving continued support of Linda and Custom Care Hospice for services that are so desperately needed when life is at its end. We extend our eternal gratitude to you all.

A Celebration of Life was held on June 27 at Discovery Independent Living at Alliance Town Center in Ft Worth.
