George Hoyt Coker, 81 of Arlington, Texas entered his eternal resting place on October 9, 2025 from his home. George was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 2, 1944 to George Henry Coker and Jimmie Doris McClain Coker, both of whom have preceded him in death. He graduated from White Hall High School class of 1961 and attended Arkansas A&M before he was drafted into the Army in 1965.

George is survived by his wife of 35 years, Violet Anderson Coker, his two daughters, Kelly Christine Coker and Kris Coker Galloway and husband, Corie of Arlington, Texas, his two step-daughters, Shannon Hall Degge and husband, Brad, and Kristie Hall White of Arlington, Texas and two granddaughters, Reagan White and Jordan Galloway of Arlington, Texas and one grandson, Koty White and wife Erin of Buckeye, Arizona.

George served our country in the U S Army’s 173rd Airborne division and was a Vietnam Veteran. He especially loved sharing his book about his time in Vietnam.

He worked at the General Motors Arlington Plant for 41 years before he retired in 2008. 

His passions were gardening, cooking, fishing and mowing…especially after he was gifted a tractor! He was a member of the Arlington Sunrise Rotary Club and volunteered with the Medical City Arlington Auxiliary. George was a member of Rush Creek Church in Arlington. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.

Graveside services will be held at the Dallas-Ft Worth National Cemetery in Texas.In lieu of flowers, donations to WWJDwaterwells.org are appreciated.
