Geraldine “Gerrie” Bettys Mackay, 79, of Cleburne, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on October 29, 2025.
Gerrie was born in Muskegon, Michigan, on October 27,1946. She is survived by her husband, Rodney Ellison; one brother, Jim Bettys of Michigan; her three children, Danny Mackay, Tammy Baker (Wesley), and Steve Mackay (Shelly); eight grandchildren, Cheyanne Taylor (John), Dakota Light, Allison Hodges, Kerrah Wellman (Kolton), Anna Schwoyer (Caleb), Camryn Kammerdiener (Brandon), Preslei Mackay, and Adalyn Mackay; and three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Silas, and Lincoln.
Known affectionately as “Memaw,” she was a lifelong Pepsi drinker and was well-known by her grandchildren and neighborhood children for always keeping Popsicles in the freezer. Gerrie enjoyed sharing memories of her travels, especially her time in Hawaii, and often talked about growing up in Michigan. She was most often found sitting on the front porch as the unofficial neighborhood watch, keeping an eye on her birdbath, and admiring the roses, monkey grass, and Michigan irises that grew so beautifully in front of her porch.
A memorial service celebrating Gerrie’s life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church of Cleburne, Texas, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
Gerrie was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
