Glenn Allan Thompson, 75, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 29,2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 26, 1949, in Fort Worth, to Stanley and Mary Lou Thompson, Glenn lived a life marked by deep devotion—to his family, his faith, and his community.
A proud graduate of Haltom High School, Class of 1967, Glenn answered the call of duty immediately after turning 18, enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps alongside two high school friends. All three were deployed to Viet Nam. Only two returned. Glenn came home in 1969, having endured the physical scars of malaria and shrapnel and the emotional weight of a war that many did not understand. He carried it all with quiet strength.
In 1973, Glenn met the love of his life, Susan, at the Hungry I Club. From that moment on, he declared his mission was to save her from a lifetime of tuna fish and Cheetos--- and he did just that. The two were engaged in July 1974 and married on June 20, 1975, at Lakeland St. Baptist Church. Together they built a life anchored in love, faith and unwavering commitment.
Their daughter Brittany Leigh was born on April7, 1981, bringing joy and new purpose to Glenn’s life. In August 1982, the Thompsons joined their church just one month after it began, quickly becoming foundational members. Glenn served selflessly—as part of the building committee, the choir, a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader, a deacon, an elder, and a trustee. He found ways to serve in nearly every corner of the church service was his spiritual gift, and he gave it freely.
Glenn worked as an electrician for 50 years, faithfully providing for his family offering a steady hand to those around him. But his proudest title came later in life: Pops. He adored his grandsons, Hudson Pierce and Silas Crew. He was their football coach in the pool, their biggest fan, and their gentle giant.
In 2012 Glen’s faith was tested when Hudson was diagnosed with leukemia. Through it all, he was a rock. When Hudson finished his final round of chemo Glenn rejoiced with deep gratitude—never taking a moment for granted.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Susan Thompson; his daughter Brittany, and his grandsons; Hudson and Silas. He is also survived by his brothers Stan Thompson, Troy Thompson, and David Thompson and wife Lisa. His sister-in-law Lisa Daugherty and husband Marcus; brother-in-law Keith Nolley and wife Janet; four nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mary Lou and his niece Paige Thompson.
Glenn was a man no one had a bad word to say about—kind, steady, funny, faithful, and strong. He lived a life of quiet integrity, deep humility, and enduring love.
