Gregory Allen Mercer

Gregory Allen Mercer, born July 6, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, chosen by Arthur Allen & Letha Mae Mercer and siblings: Artha Pauline Allison, Ramon Dean Mercer and Shirley Nadine Proffitt, appeared at the Equator at Longitude 37.53 aboard USS Enterprise February 12, 1971. Traveling much by sea, Plymouth Fury, Camaro, motorcycle or commercial vehicle, his warm, smiling eyes were a welcome beacon for many. After wishing his wife Happy Valentine’s Day he traveled home, February 14, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Scales Mercer; son and daughter-in-law: John Lewis & Viola Rose; son-in-law and daddy’s girl: Chad Russell & Audra Rae Manning; grandchildren: Kylie Renee, Blake Russell and Colt Ryder; Sister, Shirley Proffitt of Independence, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins in the Kansas City area. A memorial service will be held at High Pointe Baptist Church in Cedar Hill Monday night, February 24, 2014 at 6pm.
