James L Lougee

d. April 18, 2023

James (Jim) L Lougee (84) passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2023 after a brief illness. Jim was born in Chicago to Louis and Catherine Lougee. He lived a rich and full life; he was a master carpenter, owned and worked for construction companies, had his pilot’s license and flew out of Addison Airport, traveled to England, purchased a ship and got his Captains license, took his ship “Nik Nak” to many foreign ports, learned to cook which was the favorite of friends and family, then lived in Antigua for 20 years. He returned to the states in 2003. Jim was married 3 times and finally met the love of his life Karolyn in 2005. He is survived by his wife Karolyn Johnson, his brothers Joseph, Walter (wife Ellen), and Jack (wife Mary Lou), his children Hoyt (wife Jenny), Darlene DuBois (husband Paul), and Devon (wife Keni), his grandchildren Ariana, Ana Korina, William, Seth (wife Catherine), Nathaniel, Naomi McKnight (husband Deuce), Benjamin (wife Jun), his stepchildren Kally Wuensche (husband Arthur), Kathy Francis (husband Fred) and grandchildren Donielle, Kelsey, Johnny, Kinsey and Holly, his multitude of great and great great grandchildren and finally, his “Board” members and so many other lifelong friends. Jim’s wishes were to have no service, memorial or gathering for him. Should you wish, contributions the American Kidney Fund (www.kidneyfund.org) are always welcome. Jim leaves a message to all: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” ~ Hunter F Thompson
