James Marvin Mickan, 65, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife and surrounded lovingly by his children and family on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at is son’s home in Arlington, Tx. He is predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Dorothy Mickan. James will be lovingly remembered by his life-long soulmate, his wife of 43 years, Iliana. James and Iliana were married on December 26, 1976 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove, TX. James will forever be remembered by his son, Andre (Vanessa) and his precious “baby girl”, Bianca Mickan. He is survived and will deeply be missed by his sisters, Donna Humphries and Diane Schuman. He will be missed dearly by all his favorite nieces and nephews and loved by many. James was born at the Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas on June 2, 1953. He graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1971. He attended Central Texas College and received his HVAC license. James was owner of Mickan Heating/Air Conditioning business for 25+ years in Copperas Cove. James Mickan was a proud and highly involved father in his children’s life with constant dedication to their athletic coaching, baseball, cheerleading and sorority involvement. His passion for baseball was proof of his commitment when he took his son’s baseball team, “HEB Jr. High” team to State Championship in 1996 at Palestine, TX. His continued loyalty was followed by becoming and highly loved “Sorority Dad” for Delta Zeta! James also served as a CCISD board member. He impacted the lives of many of the youth he worked with and they all have treasured memories of him. Trinity Lutheran Church will host a celebration of James’ life on his Birthday, June 2, at 2pm with a Farewell service to follow at 3pm. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 518 E Highway 190, Copperas Cove, Tx. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that any donations be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church.
