Jan Gwen Thomas

Jan Gwen Thomas, age 86, of Bedford, Texas, passed away on April 30, 2025, peacefully in her sleep.

Jan was born on April 14, 1939, in Falfurrias, Texas, the daughter of Oliver Drue McCann and Emilie “Sloan” Burell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Thomas.

She worked for many years as an administrative assistant in banking, where her organization, dedication, and warm personality left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

Jan especially loved gardening, camping, bird watching, country music, dancing, and most of all, reading. She was also a devoted animal lover, especially fond of her pet dogs.

Some of the family’s favorite memories with Jan include driving up Pikes Peak on a motorcycle and countless camping trips that brought everyone together. She had a sweet and loving heart, was kind to everyone, and always greeted strangers with a smile. She got her beautiful blue eyes from her father and her blonde hair and petite build from her mother.

Remaining to cherish Jan’s memory are her daughter and daughter-in-law Debbie Loyd and Cammie Carter; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Bridget Loyd; and daughter and son-in-law Jana and Robert Aguilar; grandchildren: Zack and Melanie, Hayden and Kaylee, Robin, Seth, and Luke; and great-grandchildren: Isla and Finn.

She is also survived by her siblings: Sylvia Johnson, Cathy Bell, Carol Britton, Ruth Stone, and David McCann; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is her sister Jackie Moore.

The family will be having a private celebration of life.
