Janet Marie Spinks (née Hopkins) passed away at her home in Burleson, Texas, on September 6, 2026, with her daughter by her side.

She was born in Centralia, Illinois, and always considered Hoyleton, Illinois, to be home.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence (Beckmeyer) Westerfeld; her former husband, Bill Spinks; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Chris Phillips of Burleson, Texas; her son, Jeff Spinks of Centralia, Illinois; her sister, Carol Hale of Houston, Texas; along with many cousins, extended family members, and friends. She will be remembered for her distinctive, contagious laughter.

Graveside services for family and friends will be held in Hoyleton, Illinois, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
