Jason Cori Grogan, 43, of Burleson, TX was killed Wednesday, July 6, 2016 during a test flight over Ellis County. Jason was born February 24, 1973 in Pensacola, FL to Michael R. Grogan and El Wanda Tekell Grogan from McLean, TX. Jason graduated from Texas Tech University in 1996, and was commissioned into the Unites States Marine Corps in 1997 to fly the AH-1W Super Cobra Gunship. He served two combat tours in Iraq and received several awards for distinguishing service including the Air Medal with Strike/Flight Numeral “16.” In 2005 he married Lynn Ann Knoy in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. In 2006 Jason graduated from Naval Test Pilot School, and was stationed at China Lake, CA to begin testing the weapons systems for the new AH-1Z Cobra. Jason left active duty in 2010 to return to TX with his family and began working for Bell Helicopter as an experimental test pilot. Jason was recently promoted to Pilot V and was an integral part of several projects. Jason was well liked and respected by all for his work ethic, his devotion to his family, his fantastic sense of humor, and his strong Christian faith. Jason is survived by his wife, Lynn, and children Justice, 19, Katelyn, 8, and Aaron, 5. He is also survived by his parents, Michael and El Wanda, his brother, Todd, and his aunt Lana Grogan. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Burleson at 11:00 am. Burial at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery will take place at a later time.
