Jean E Harris

d. August 18, 2024

Jean Elizabeth Harris (nee Tripp) passed away peacefully, comforted by family, on August 18, 2024 in Grapevine, TX. She was born the daughter of Charles Frederick Tripp II and Elva Alberta Fuller Tripp on June 27, 1938 in Canton, ME. Jean’s early years were spent on the family farm in Canton Point. She spent her high school years in Farmington, ME where she lived with her brother Fred and his wife, Margaret. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1955 and attended Westbrook Junior College. Jean married A. Clifton Harris in 1958 with whom she had five children who were raised in the Wilton, Millinocket and Augusta areas. A devoted mother, she exemplified a resilient and selfless spirit. Her tenacity, ability to smile and maintain a sense of humor in good times and bad are a legacy she passed on to her children, grandchildren and those close to her. After many years spent raising her children, Jean pursued the professional skills required to care for her family and enjoyed a long career working for the State of Maine while she lived in Augusta. In retirement, she moved to Industry, ME with her son Steve, and later to live with her daughter, Diane, in Grapevine, TX. These years afforded the opportunity to travel, visiting children and grandchildren in Texas, Maine, South Carolina and elsewhere. Jean is predeceased by her parents, brothers Erlon, John, Charles (Fred), Paul, Herbert, Marland, Gordon, and Byron, as well as her son, Scott, and daughter, Donna. She is survived by her children Steven Harris, Diane Bibb (Garry) and Shawn Harris (Maria), as well as grandchildren Lauren, Nicholas, Candace, Elizabeth, Nathan, Ryan, Tamarah, Jacob, Amanda, Austin, Sophia and Genevieve and many great-grandchildren. Jean’s family would like to thank the staff of Birchwood Grapevine and Kindful Hospice for the wonderful care they provided her in recent years. Jean will return home for her final rest alongside family. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Canton Point, ME.
