Jerelean (Vistine) Nickerson

Jeri Nickerson passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of eighty-five on Friday, July 20th 2012. Funeral services will be held at Harvest Assembly of God Church at 7501 Crowley Road at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 24th. Visitation will take place at Mayfield Kiser Funeral home at 12301 South Freeway, Fort Worth Texas on Monday July 23rd from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. Rev. Dale Shorter of Harvest Assembly of God Church and Rev. David Vistine of Las Cruces, New Mexico will be officiating. Jeri was born on May 18, 1927 in Enid, Oklahoma to Henry and Alta Martin. Jeri was married to Vernon V. Vistine for thirty-nine years and raised seven children. After the passing of Vernon, Jeri was married to Charlie Nickerson of Canyon, Texas for nineteen years. Jeri was a homemaker and stayed busy raising seven children. She also worked many years as the manager of both the Lorenzo public school cafeteria and the cafeteria at Lubbock State School. Later she worked as the manager of the food services for the Assemblies of God youth camp in Mountainair, New Mexico. After retirement she and her husband Charlie Nickerson lived in Borger, Texas and enjoyed traveling with the Allegro Motor home club. Jeri was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved and served her family in many ways. As a devoted Christian she was willing to serve wherever the opportunity arose in her local church especially in the music ministry. She was a great example to all in serving and living the Christian life. Survivors: Her husband Charlie Nickerson of Canyon, Texas and one daughter Sheryl and Ray Mc Daniels of Burleson, Texas; survived Jeri along with her six sons; Tony Vistine and wife Bobbie of Crowley, Texas; Steve and Dana Vistine of San Antonio, Texas; Rev. David and Ilda Vistine of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Virgil and Charlotte Vistine of Burleson, Texas; Tim and Carlette Vistine of Azle, Texas; and John and Debbie Vistine of Clovis, New Mexico as well as her stepchildren Brenda and Gary Edwards of Canyon, Texas, and Doug and Mona Nickerson of Amarillo, Texas. She also has seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. Her Sister Lydia Shorter of Fort Worth, Texas; Dean Martin of Springfield, Missouri; Gladys Thompson of Enid, Oklahoma; and Harvey Martin of Kansas, Oklahoma, survive her also along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Alta Martin, Bill Martin her brother and first husband Vernon V. Vistine In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is set up for the Community Hospice house and for the benevolence ministry at Harvest Assembly of God in Fort Worth.
