Jess Vernon Dullnig peacefully passed away on January 21, 2026, at his home in Lewisville, Texas, at the age of 71.
Jess was born on November 18, 1954, in Midland, Texas, to Patricia and Vernon Dullnig. From an early age, he demonstrated a curious and analytical mind that would later guide him to earn an engineering degree from Texas A&M in College Station, which led to a career as a mechanical engineer, working mostly for Pennzoil in Utah. His work reflected his thoughtful nature and problem-solving skills—traits that extended well beyond his career. He took pride in understanding how things worked and was always willing to share that knowledge with others.
After leaving Pennzoil and Utah, Jess moved to Colorado, where he devoted several years to caring for his mother until her passing in 2015. That same year, Jess relocated to Lewisville, Texas, choosing to live near his lifelong best friend, Chris Dikmen, of Carrollton. Their friendship, built over decades, was a cornerstone of Jess’s life and a testament to his loyalty and capacity for deep connection.
Jess lived independently in Lewisville, his life shaped by simplicity, friendship, and personal interests. He was known for his great sense of humor and his willingness to help friends with a wide range of projects—no task was too small or too complicated if someone he cared about needed assistance. He found joy in watching classic films and spent countless hours working on his beloved Constructor models, a pursuit that reflected both his creativity and his love of mechanical detail. He also enjoyed baseball, Dallas Cowboys football, golf and reading.
Those who were fortunate enough to call Jess a friend will remember him for his intelligence, warmth, and loyalty. His life was one of quiet dedication and kindness and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sister, Nan Muzinich, and many friends. Jess was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Dullnig and Vernon Dullnig.
