EVERMAN — Jo Ann Stoltenberg Kern passed away peacefully at home Monday, Nov. 8, 2010. Funeral: Private interment will be in Everman Cemetery. Memorials: Donations may be made to Friends of Everman Library, Box 40340, Everman, Texas 76140. Jo Ann was delivered by her father, Elvin, at their farmhouse Nov. 25, 1934, near Carroll, Neb. Jo studied normal training during high school in Randolph, Neb., and taught in a one-room schoolhouse at 16. She obtained her BFA from Wayne State College and worked at WJAG writing ads in the 1950s and then taught high school English. On June 1, 1959, she married William G. Kern of Wayne, Neb. In 1968 after eight years in Florida and Indiana, Jo, Will and their daughter, Jenny, settled in Everman. She worked as a volunteer, cataloging letters and information for the Jim Wright Collection at the TCU Library. Jo was a charter member and newsletter editor, and spent five years as president of the Friends of Everman Library. She became a family historian and genealogy researcher since moving to Tarrant County. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin William Stoltenberg and Enid Arline Foltz Stoltenberg; brother, Elvin William Stoltenberg II; and sister, Donna Jean Albright. Survivors: Husband of 51 years, William G. Kern; daughter, Jenny Lee Kern Winfield and husband, Terry, of Arlington; brothers, Gerald Stoltenberg of Hoskins, Neb., and Henry Stoltenberg of Huntington Beach, Calif.; sister, Dixie Kucera of Tilden, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.
