Joel Brewster

d. May 11, 2024

Denton, TX – Joel Brewster, 64, passed away on May 11, 2024 in Dallas, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 17, 1959 in Caribou, Maine. Predeceased by his father, Graydon Brewster in 2008 and brother, Scott Brewster in 2015; Joel is survived by his mother, Judy Brewster (Malm); brother, Steven Brewster and sister-in-law, Sharon; daughters and their husbands, Kaytlynn & Keith Chavanelle and Khrysta & Justin Smithers; former wife, Anne Morrill, and numerous extended family and friends that became family. Joel grew up in Merrimack, NH and spent most of his life in New Hampshire. He was known for the mischief he created around town (whichever town that may have been depending on the time). The phrase “it’s not my fault, I was with Joel Brewster” became quite familiar among his circle of friends. Joel was an Engineer, by trade, but known as the “Entertainment Director” and/or “Attorney” by many others. An artful storyteller, he loved to spend his time surrounded by friends and family, both blood and chosen, riding on two wheels and playing sports. In his younger years it was softball, which he took very seriously, demonstrated by his infamous eye black. Later on, golf was his sport of choice where his commentary far exceeded his skill. After relocating to Dallas, TX he lovingly spread his chaos down south, and built new friendships that would last for the rest of his life. And as Joel would put it, “we’re here for a good time, not a long time.” He will forever be remembered for his smile, infectious laugh, genuine personality and never using training wheels, both figuratively and metaphorically. Joel will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him, and we all take comfort in knowing that he proudly left a permanent mark on this world. Joel wishes to spend eternity in Northern Maine where his ashes will be spread this summer. A Celebration of Life will be set for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Scott Brewster Music Fund c/o: Myrna Dixon 377 Station Road New Sweden, ME 04762
