John Beasley Briggs

Heaven gained an original cowboy today. John Briggs, a beloved resident of Dallas Texas passed away at the age of 75. Born October 23, 1949 John was known for his kind heart and unwavering optimism during his 15 year battle with cancer. John is survived by his forever loving wife who he was married to for 37 years. He is proceeded in death by his mother, Patty and father Frank. He has two children of the heart, son, Bryan Coleman, wife Bridget and grandson Danny and daughter Rachael Blahovec, and grandchildren, Roy , Jack, and Clay . He is also survived by his two siblings, Frank, J. Briggs and wife, Bob,bie . Katharine and husband Joe. Niece, Vanessa, Hardwick, and husband, Kelly, and their son Nathan, plus too many friends and family to mention from church. John was a loyal friend and a pillar of strength for many, always offering a listening ear and words of wisdom. He had a wonderful childhood raised on a farm in Southwest Dallas with his cousins that he considered brothers and sisters. He played drums all his life, loved his dark cherry 57 Chevy and then his 69 Roadrunner. He was a pilot, a hunter , fisherman, a gentle man and a GENTLEMAN . He loved his family beyond words, and also loved his many dogs through out the years, hard to choose a favorite, however, Cody, Louie and Sadie would definitely be at the top of his list. His presence will be deeply missed All who had the privilege of knowing him. John’s legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He was an extraordinary man who made a friend everywhere he went. Our hearts are broken.
