John Winton Elvington, 89 died, Friday March 15, 2014 at Texas Health Huguley Hospital Burleson, TX following a brief illness. Funeral: 11 A.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: 1 hour prior to service. Interment: Fairview Cemetery in Gainsville, Texas. John was married 64 years to Ruth Virginia Hunt of Ripley, West Virginia who preceded him in death. They have three children; daughter, Brenda Randell of Birmingham, AL, son, Tony Elvington and wife Ulricka of Ft Worth TX, daughter Teresa Little and husband Jimmie Little of Ft Worth, TX, sister Elizabeth Beck of Gainesville, TX, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews and many close friends. Born in 1924 and raised in Beggs, OK, son of Jim and Lona Elvington. John was a veteran of WWll and while assigned to a  military hospital met and married his pretty nurse. They  raised their family in Wichita Falls, TX before eventually retiring to Burleson, TX . John was a member of Cana Baptist Church of Burleson, TX and a long time member of the Burleson Senior Activity Center where he joined in fellowship with his many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Burleson Senior Center, 216 SW Johnson Ave, Burleson, Tx 76028 or to a favorite charity.
