Judy Lee Davis Monroe ARLINGTON — Judy Lee Davis Monroe, 78, of Arlington, passed away September 26, 2017, in Arlington, Texas. MEMORIAL SERVICES: Wednesday, October 4th at 6:00 p.m., Walnut Creek Country Club, Mansfield, Texas and another in October in Venice, Florida. Each service will include a memorial salute to Judy at sunset, in a time honored beach tradition and island-type wear is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to either Easterseals North Texas or to Caringbridge.com in Judy’s honor. Easterseals North Texas, 1424 Hemphill Street, Fort Worth, Texas is where her daughter, Marty, serves as the VP of Compliance and Judy passionately supported Marty’s work. Caringbridge.com “TeamJudy” allowed the family to communicate and update friends and family through Judy’s illness. Both are worthy of your donations. Judy was born May 17, 1939, in Orange County, California, to Johnnie “Scat” and Martha Lee “IE” Davis. She grew up in Hillsdale, Michigan, lived most of her life in Arlington, Texas, and retired to the beach in Venice, Florida. She was a daughter, sister, granddaughter, great granddaughter, cousin, niece, friend, dancer, singer, wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt, landlord, neighbor, Sunday school teacher, cook, guitar strummer, baseball mom, softball mom, dance mom, employee, co-worker, supervisor, manager and eventually a Vice President, Mortgage Banker, perpetually late, hostess, divorcee, music lover, karaoke queen, traveler, retiree, beach lover, breast cancer survivor, grandmother/MiMi, great-grandmother/Great MiMi, and finally, unfortunately, a stroke patient, a hospice patient, and nursing facility resident. She devoted her career, 30+ years, with Fort Worth Mortgage/Colonial Savings. She retired as the Vice President of Customer Service, and was also active in the Mortgage Bankers Association. In retirement she worked at FiFi’s, Venice, Florida. She lived life to the fullest, loved excess – nothing was TOO MUCH, from sparkle and color, to big Texas hair, red lips and bold jewelry, easy smiles, quick laughs, being kind to others, being positive, and her love for her family & friends…and the beach! The family would express their thanks to the staff that cared for her and families we met along the way, including those at Sunset Lakes, Venice, Florida, New Century Hospice and at Senior Care Green Oaks, Arlington, Texas. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny “Scat” Davis and Martha Lee “IE” Davis, her youngest sister, Susan Jane “Susie” Davis, her nephew, Reid Phillips and her ex-husband, Gerald “Jerry” Monroe. Judy is survived by her family: son, Michael “Mike” Monroe and wife, Ann (Mansfield); daughter, Martha Lee “Marty” Monroe Skinner and husband, Steve (Arlington); grandchildren and great grandchildren, Cole Skinner and wife, Lindsay, and their children, Cooper Grace and Clayton Monroe Skinner (Frisco), Cody Skinner and his wife, Carly, and their children, Gunner Blake, Titus Stephen and Pacey Lynn Skinner (Midlothian); sister, Nancy Phillips and husband, Kenny (Arlington); Nieces, Paige Phillips, Jennifer DeOrdio, and Raleigh Phillips; grandnephew, Ian Leh; grandnieces, Emilie Scharlach and Dr. Natalie Hughes, and husband, Albert, and son, Carter. Judy gathered amazing people throughout her journey including dear Texas friends, Florida friends, the Hens, coworkers, beach lovers, music lovers and neighbors.
