Julian Joseph Alcantar

April 27, 1962 — September 14, 2025

Dallas,Texas

Julian Joseph Alcantar passed away peacefully at his home on September 14, 2025. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones. Joe was born in Dallas, Texas, on April 27, 1962, and was affectionately dubbed "The Golden Child” by his parents, Julian and Gloria Alcantar.

Growing up in Old East Dallas, Joe attended Woodrow Wilson High School. In his early teenage years, he loved Bruce Lee and the song Kung Foo Fighting. He spent many hours learning to use nunchucks. After perfecting his Bruce Lee phase, he grew into his Evil Knievel phase and went through his fair share of vehicles. He favored John Travolta, which led to his Welcome Back Kotter, and Saturday Night Fever phase. All the girls crushed on him. He was born a beautiful boy who turned into a handsome man.

He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and he loved Latino and old school music. He held various odd jobs as a teenager, but his favorite as an adult was working for Nationwide Restoration, where he served as a traveling Manager of his own crew. His work took him across the United States, allowing him to appreciate and enjoy the beautiful bounty of our great nation.

In recent years, Joe loved collaborating with his best friend and brother-in-law, Marcus Wray, building off-the-grid living cabins in Oklahoma. He loved the outdoors, camping, riding four-wheelers, and taking in the country air.

Joe’s greatest accomplishment was becoming a father to his son, Christopher Julian. Christopher brought joy to Joe’s life by making him a proud grandfather to two beautiful boys.

Joe had no fear as a kid or as an adult; if you dared him to do something, he did it. We always said he was like a cat with 9 lives, but he pushed it to at least 23 lives. He did not live an average life. Although he had his struggles, he made the most of his circumstances and inspired young men by choosing a path of faith. He lived life on his own terms, and he always lived for the day. The Steve Miller Band summed up his life pretty succinctly- he was a joker, a smoker, and a midnight toker.

He is preceded in death by his father, Julian C. Alcantar, and his brother Christopher A. Alcantar. He is survived by his life partner Michelle Tribble, his son Christopher J. Alcantar; his mother Gloria Alcantar; his brother Mike Zuniga, his sister Julie Wray, his brother-in-law Marcus Wray, his sister Rebecca Alcantar; his grandson’s Christopher Julian Alcantar and Julian Christopher Alcantar, his sister-in-law Carol Rubio Alcantar; his niece Sunder Alcantar and nephews Zachary Alcantar and Nathan Rubio, his adopted family - Gary Bourisaw, Renee Bourisaw, Emily Bourisaw, Brian Bergthal, Gary Bourisaw, Jr., and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Joe's life in their own way. Raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory would be quite appropriate.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Liver Foundation in Joe’s name.
