Kristin Karol Wilson McHenry

July 9, 1966 – October 29, 2026

Kristin was born on July 9, 1966, in Tucson, Arizona, to Jimmy (PhD) and Susan Wilson. She grew up in Texas, graduated from Plainview High School in 1984, earned her Bachelor’s in Education from Texas Tech in 1989, and later, because of her deep love of reading, completed her Master’s in Literature from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2011. She taught in Midland, Burnet, and Springtown, Texas, and made Springtown her home.

On December 2, 2000, she married Robert in Burnet. They were true soulmates. You rarely saw them apart. As Scripture says, the two became one flesh. At the beginning of her final decline, Kristin asked Robert if he would always love her. His answer was simple and absolute: “Till my last breath plus one.” That was the bond they shared for nearly 26 years.

Kristin was a loving and kind soul with an extraordinary capacity for empathy. She was a born-again Christian who believed in Jesus. She was a devoted wife, mother to Gregory, mother-in-law to Stephanie, and grandmother to Benten—Beni. She poured herself into her family, her students, and the people she met along the way.

For seven and a half years she received dialysis (with a five-year break after receiving a kidney transplant) at the Decatur Dialysis Center. She dreaded the treatments, yet she looked forward to seeing her friends there—Dr. Z, the techs, the nurses, and her fellow patients. Even in the hard places, she found and created connection.

She loved Scarborough Faire, Halloween, and Christmas. She delighted in planning, organizing, and decorating—especially the annual McHenry Halloween parties. She adored her dogs and always wanted a horse. Her favorite places to get away were Cloudcroft, New Mexico; Leavenworth, Washington; and Mackinac Island, Michigan. Kristin passed away on October 29, 2026, at 6:30 in the evening, with Robert holding her hand.

She is survived by her husband Robert; her son Gregory and his wife Stephanie McHenry; her grandson Benten; her mother Susan Wilson of Forney; her brothers Ken and Michelle Wilson of Sunnyvale and James Wilson of New York with Oliva; and her nieces Taylor Wilson of Dallas and Madi Wilson of Nashville.

Kristin will be remembered for her kindness, her faith, her festive spirit, and the warmth she brought to every room and every celebration she planned. She loved deeply and was deeply loved.

We grieve her absence, but we give thanks for the gift of her life and the way she loved us. May her memory be a blessing.
