Larry Don Elkins, age 72, of Weatherford, TX passed away on February 5, 2023. Heaven welcomed a new resident when Larry fled his ailing earthly body and joined Jesus and his mom and dad and brothers in Heaven. Larry was born in Longview, TX on September 17, 1950 to Louie and Virginia Elkins. The family later moved to Andrews, TX in 1958 where Larry attended Andrew’s schools until his graduation in 1969. He was always proud of being raised in Andrews and of being an Andrews Mustang. After graduation Larry enlisted in the US Navy where he was on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. Larry knew no stranger and always loved to chat with anyone about anything and that led him into the career of salesman. That career led him all over the country and has lasted until the day he passed. Anyone who knew Larry knew of his beautiful singing voice. He especially loved singing barbershop and was a member of several quartets and groups in Midland and Marble Falls, TX. Larry especially loved February and singing “Valentines” to people in love. Larry’s voice was strong and powerful and perfect for radio where he loved broadcasting for the Burnet Bulldogs and Mineral Wells Rams. Along with radio broadcasting and barbershop singing, Larry enjoyed playing golf and playing the guitar and drums, as well as singing, in Cowboy Church bands. He loved being able to share his voice and touch people with the words of a gospel song. In 1997, Larry was introduced to his wife, Cindy, in Andrews and they were married in 1999. They were blessed with 26 wonderful years together. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; by his daughter and son- in -law Brianne and Jesse Newton and their daughters Hannah and Sarah; daughter and son -in -law Miranda and Tim Livingston and their daughter Claire; son and daughter -in -law Daniel and Heather Elkins and their son Ryley; step son and wife Chad and Mindi Andes and their daughters Karli and Kyli; step son and loving partner Todd Andes and Heather. Survivors also include Larry’s sister and husband Liz and Gil Campbell, 2 sister-in -laws and his mother-in-law Bobbie Hopper. A private memorial service will be help at a later time for his family.
