Linda Kay Lain was born September 29, 1950 and passed away with family by her side on  Saturday, April 22, 2017. Graveside Service: 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 25,2017 at Whites Chapel Cemetery in Southlake, Texas. Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, April 24, 2017 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home Linda was born on September 29, 1950 in Fort Worth to the union of Ford Reynolds and Virginia Reynolds. She was raised in what was then the small country town of Colleyville until graduating from Grapevine High School in 1969. Linda loved the country life in Colleyville because she enjoyed the outdoors, and animals of all shape, size, and description. It was in this environment and because of the nurturing of her loving mother, Virginia ,that Linda learned to love plants, growing things, and flowers. After graduating from high school Linda worked a variety of jobs in the DFW area but eventually moved to Houston where she worked as an administrative assistant for an investment banker. Linda lived most of her adult life in Houston and it was there that she met her husband, Billy. Although Billy and Linda had no children of their own, she was instrumental in helping to raise Rhonda and Brian who she treated as her own. She also looked forward to the summers when her granddaughter, Julie would spend a several weeks with her. It was while in Houston that Linda’s love of plants and flowers continued to flourish. She joined the South Texas Unit of the Herb Society of America. Linda came to love the Herb Society eventually becoming president of the South Texas Unit and later president of the national organization. Linda truly loved her participation in the HSA and made many friends all over the country. She remained active in the HSA until she became ill with ovarian cancer in April of 2016. The scripture charges each of us to honor thy father and mother. Linda was a loyal and faithful daughter and truly loved her mother and father. Linda was a beautiful person inside and out and truly loved all her family. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Ford Reynolds, her brother Michael Reynolds, and her cousin, Leslie Reynolds. Linda leaves to mourn her passing but celebrate her life her loving husband Billy, her loving mother Virginia Reynolds, Rhonda Nash and Brian Lain who she considered as her children, her granddaughter Julie Vassor who will deliver her first great grandchild next month. Linda loved her cousins and there are many. Cousins include Larry Reynolds, Glenda Thimbes, Barbara Jean and Bill Faries, Brian Lee Reynolds, and the California cousins, Leslee Burke and Stephanie Jacksen. Also surviving in California is her beloved Aunt Tootsie Jacksen. She also leaves a whole host of friends who are too numerous to mention. All whose lives she touched were enriched and made better by having Linda as part of it. She will be missed but we choose to celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing. We believe she has experienced the ultimate healing and that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
