Linda Jane Spears

November 8, 1941 — January 11, 2026

Azle, TX

Linda Jane Spears, of Azle, Texas, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at 84 on January 11, 2026. It was after a brave nine year struggle she succumbed to Alzheimer’s.

Born on November 8, 1941 in Greenville, Texas she would go on to lead a life defined by strength, joy and devotion to those she loved.

After her family moved to Fort Worth she would eventually meet the love of her life, Charles Spears. And on June 6, 1959 the two were wed at the White Settlement First Baptist Church. They would spend the next 66 years together.

While working at the University of North Texas she would earn certification as a Certified Medical Coder and would work at that profession until retirement.

She loved to travel and was fortunate to have travelled with daughter, Connie, throughout the US and Europe. Through travel she and Charles discovered cruising and visited port after port. Additional quality time with Charles was found on weekends as they visited garage sales and flea markets looking for antiques and good bargains.

Linda’s memories will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered for her smile, infectious laughter and the courage she displayed, as she fought and won two battles with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cletis and Mary Jane Swindell; sister, Mary Ann Swindell; and daughter, Connie Spears.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles; nephews, niece and many friends. She is also survived by their three dogs Pumpkin, Rocky, Bandit and two ponies Sassy and Baby.

To honor Linda, donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
