Arlington, TX- Dollye (Lola) McGee passed peacefully on November 16, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born on February 7, 1929 to Guy Leland and Hazel Shanahan Mattingly in Greenville, Ms. In 1946 she was crowned “Miss Lake Chico” in Lake Village, Arkansas, and was a debutante of the 1948 season cotillion in Greenville, Mississippi. Dollye, formerly married to David McGee, is survived by brother Guy Mattingly, Jr. of Abilene, Tx; sister Mary Hazel Weissinger of Cary, Ms; her children, David of Mansfield, Tx; Melanie of Longview, Tx and George of Boston, Ma; six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Dollye retired to Longview, Tx in 2004 after a lively life in New Orleans and raising her children in Houston, Omaha, and Monroe, La. She was an avid life-long Bridge player, bowler and antique collector. She was known for her prudence and she was an early advocate for recycling. Dollye will always be remembered by those who loved her for her beautiful, radiant blue eyes and her love of chocolate. A Memorial/Appreciation will be held in Longview at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
