Maeowen Margaret Slate

BURLESON — Maeowen Margaret Slate, a devoted follower of the Lord and a loving mother, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012. Funeral: 10 am Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 pm Sunday. Maeowen an artist, athelete and a wonderful cook, was born and raised in Corsicana and moved to Texas City where she met and married the father of her children, Johnny Slate. After raising her children, she moved to Midland where she took care of her mother, until her passing.  From there she moved to Van where she took care of her sister Pauline, until her passing. Finally settling in Burleson to be close to her daughter where she was also able to take care of her sister Nalda, until her passing. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael James Slate; parents, Jim and Suella Williams; sisters, Nalda Davis and Pauline McMaster. Survivors: Chidren, Michelane Kent and husband Gary, Tony Slate and Terry Slate and wife Rhonda; brother, Desmond Williams; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
