BURLESON — Marvin Ray Givens, 61, was born on January 5, 1952 in San Antonio, TX and passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by loved ones on Monday, November 25, 2013. Funeral: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Burleson. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, November 29, 2013 at at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home. Private graveside service will be held at New Spanish Fort Cemetery in Spanish Fort, TX. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Promises Community Ministries of First Baptist Church of Burleson. Marvin grew up in Eagle Lake, TX and moved to Everman during high school where he met the love of his life, Toni. The two eventually settled in Burleson where they began their lives together, building a network of family and friends. Marvin’s work ethic and passion enabled him to work his way up from the plant floor to senior level executive for Kinro, a national manufacturing company. He spent 38 years with Kinro. His success in business afforded him the opportunity to bless and help his extended family and others in need. Giving made him happy. Marvin became a Christian at an early age and has been an active member of First Baptist Church of Burleson for more than 25 years. Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. Considered a big kid, Marvin was always having fun and making people laugh. He had a gift of making people feel better in times of their personal grief or tragedy. His generosity and kindhearted nature impacted countless people’s lives. Marvin will be remembered most for his immense love for his family. He devoted his life to taking care of and providing the best for his loved ones. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lettye Givens. Survivors: wife Toni; son, Jeff and wife Mecca; daughter, Jodi and husband Rob Kirspel: grandchildren, Ella and Henry Givens, and Wren Kirspel; sisters, Paula Matthews and Sharon Frank and husband Charlie and several beloved nephews and nieces, and numerous extended family and friends.
