Our family is deeply saddened to share that Matthew Taylor Nelson passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2026 after ongoing struggles with his mental health. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor and love for his family.
A memorial service to be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 6000 Morriss Rd, Flower Mound, TX 75028. All who knew him are invited.
Matthew, best described as kind, generous, witty, thoughtful, and playful, was more than just these qualities. His love extended well beyond the ordinary. A man of few words, Matthew taught us the valuable lesson of enjoying our time together as a family. He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, kayaking, writing & singing songs, snowboarding, and cooking!
His legacy bears testimony to his profound love for his family. He is survived by his parents, Jill and Tipp Nelson; two brothers and a sister (and their families): Cooper, Jessica, Marlow, and Winnie Nelson; Walker, Bonnie, and Riley Nelson; and Avery, Brandon, Edison, and Frankie Walters, along with two grandparents, Sarah and Clifford Crowe, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. His nieces and nephews were at the heart of Matthew’s world, and his playful, loving nature was most evident when he was with them.
His departure has created an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family and those who knew & loved him.
