Micah Phillip Berry

Funeral services will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11:00 am at South Park Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas with burial to follow at Laurel Land Cemetery in Fort Worth. Micah Phillip Berry was born June 2, 1993 in Dallas, Texas to Phillip Edward and Deborah Ann Berry. He grew up in South Park Baptist Church in Fort Worth where his father Phil has been the Minister of Music for almost 25 years and was also the Minister of Youth for over 20 years. At South Park Baptist he was active in AWANA, youth group, orchestra, and worship band among other activities. He professed his faith in Jesus and was baptized there at age 7. He went to camps and mission trips most summers with the church through high school. He attended Parkway Elementary, HF Stevens Middle School, and Crowley High School all in Crowley, Texas. At Crowley High School, Micah was a member of the band program where he played trumpet and was involved in Jr. ROTC. He graduated salutatorian in 2011 and accepted a full ROTC scholarship to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. At Sam Houston State University, Micah was active in ROTC and worked for the university in the computer information department. He made the President’s List with a 4.0 GPA each semester he was there. During the summers between school years, he returned home to Fort Worth to work and be with his family, worked as a staff member with Clear Christian Camps in Chicago, Illinois in 2013, and participated in a seven week military training program in Louisville, Kentucky in 2014. He committed to the Army Reserves in 2014 and had already begun his service during his senior year at Sam Houston State. Micah had an infectious joy that you couldn’t help but catch any time you were with him. He genuinely loved his family, friends, and anyone else who happened to be lucky enough to cross his path. In his spare time he enjoyed exercising, playing guitar, piano, and trumpet, playing basketball, listening to gospel music, having spontaneous adventures with his friends, and keeping in touch with his family. On February 25, 2015 he left his earthly body and his soul was given to the hands of his Lord, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his parents Phillip Edward and Deborah Ann Berry, sisters Olivia Gail Tucker and Anna Katherine Berry, grandparents Billy Ray and Barbara Gail Beasley, uncles Albert Berry and Bill Beasley, brother-in-law Jacob Stroud Tucker and many, many other relatives and friends.
