Mildred Harris

June 9, 1933 — April 16, 2025

Waxahachie

Mildred Harris, 91, of Waxahachie Texas passed away on April 16, 2025 surrounded by family.Mildred 'Mickie' Harris was born on June 9, 1933 at Coffeyville, Texas in Upshur County to Charlie and Grace Ambrose, the youngest of three daughters.Mickie as she was known by most was a faithful wife to Jerry Harris who preceded her in death in 1982, a caring mother to her two sons, and a peacemaker.
She loved both her daughters-in-law and thought her sons chose pretty well but would go on to say that their wives also didn't do so badly either. She was actively involved in the lives of all of her four grandchildren and spoiled them at every opportunity, if love could spoil. And so proud of her seven great grandchildren. She constantly told anyone that would listen that we all needed more love in this life and it would be a better world if we had that kind of love Jesus had for us. She was the last remaining of her generation and will be missed greatly. She was faithful to her Lord Jesus Christ in good times and in bad. She was a prayer warrior, constantly having a long list of people to pray for including many she either didn't know or barely knew that she had heard about that had needs. She was an amazing role model for those who wanted to serve. She served her family beyond the ordinary. She cooked hot meals for her family even when due to school, schedules, and shift work it seemed everyone needed or wanted to eat at different times. It didn't stop there, she was always fixing something cooked to take to someone who might need something to eat or just something sweet to pick them up a bit. Quickly she would get the reputation wherever she was worshipping as a good cook and folks were not bashful in asking her to keep bringing something she had brought that they really liked, perhaps her family recipe chocolate meringue pie.
