Myrna Olsen died after a lengthy illness on May 27, 2023 in Dallas, TX. She is survived by four children: Jeanine Langford, and spouse David; Debbie Baker, and spouse Allan; Gary Olsen, and spouse Michie Akin; Bill Olsen, and spouse Lisa. Myrna is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Gene Rodney Olsen, and her eldest son, Ronald Gene Olsen. In addition, Myrna is survived by six grandchildren; Jason Langford, Jeri Langford Baker, Chad Baker, Kevin Baker, Jillian Jaccar Conry, Shelby Jaccar Bethea, and seven great-grandchildren. Myrna Faye Caudle Olsen was born to Carrie Mae Cartwright Caudle and John Bunyan Caudle on April 2, 1934 in a farmhouse in rural Eastland County, Texas. Her family were peanut farmers. She was welcomed by five loving brothers; Cecil, Wilburn, Dale, Clay, and Burl. The family welcomed two younger brothers in 1937 and 1940, James and Delwin. James died in infancy. From this family, she is survived by Clay Caudle of Bridgeport, Texas. Myrna enjoyed being a homemaker and mother to her five children in Garland, TX in the 1960s and 1970s. She took much pleasure in making her home and garden beautiful. In 1970 she became a working mother, employed by the Garland Independent School District where she served in various classroom support positions, lastly being a computer lab aide. She was loved by her co-workers and all the many children she assisted in learning. She retired from GISD in 1992. Upon retirement, Myrna enjoyed volunteering at her beloved Dallas Arboretum and attending local theater and museums. She was a lifelong arts advocate and supporter of local theater, including Theatre Three, Dallas Theater Center, and the Bathhouse Cultural Arts Center at White Rock Lake. Family and friends joined her for many of these theatrical events. A private family interment service will be held at DFW National Cemetery.
