Nancy Lou Martin

In Loving Memory of Nancy Lou Martin Nancy Lou Martin was born on April 30, 1944, to Clarence and Laura Kachelmuss in Elgin, Illinois. She grew up in Forrest, Illinois on the family farm with her two sisters and her brother. She moved to Peoria, Illinois to pursue her passion for nursing, a calling that defined her life for over 50 years. She found great fulfillment in serving as a hospice nurse in Washington and Texas, providing comfort and care to those in need. In her later years, she continued her dedication to caring for others as the wellness director at Vintage Retirement Community in Denton, Texas. While nursing was her passion, her greatest purpose came from her deep faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She devoted her life to loving and nurturing her family, pouring her heart into every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was their rock, their guiding light, and their greatest blessing. She loved to travel, read, and cook for her family. She was never one to miss a grandchild’s recital, game, or special event- always showing up with a hug and even a “sussie” to share how proud she was of them. A friend to all, Nancy had a gift for making lifelong connections wherever she went. She kept up through letters and cards and always enjoyed connecting over lunch and spending an afternoon laughing and reminiscing with her friends and family. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She is survived by her children, Jodi (Joe)Mata, Heidi (Glenn) Alexander Dryke (Renae) Martin, 9 grandchildren, and 3 (soon to be 4) great-grandchildren as well as siblings Carol Robbins, Shirley (Ernie) Herman, Jim (Becky) Kachelmuss, and many nephews and nieces. Private services will be held. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Healthcare of Texas Hospice at www.chot.org
