Nathalie Blackburn

North Richland Hills, TX – Nathalie Blackburn passed away after a relatively short battle with cancer and a lengthy dementia mental decline on February 3, 2023 in North Richland Hills, TX. She was born December 6, 1928 in Chicota, Texas. Predeceased by her husband, Billy Lee in 1977; and siblings Buck Arney, Phara Layton Arney, Nolan Arney, Lynn Arney, Von Arney and Jeannie Arney; Nathalie is survived by her children, Scott Blackburn and Vonna (David) Goddard; her grandson, Matthew (Jennifer) Goddard; and great grandchildren, Nolan and Norah Goddard; her sisters, Beth Parson and Freda Vanderburg; sister-in-laws, Ann Arney and Julie Arney; and many nieces and nephews. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many. Nathalie grew up in a rural community with a large family. It was a loving family and she enjoyed memories of those years with her beloved family even after losing her more recent memories. As a young adult, she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company and loved to talk about her fun times living with other girls in a boarding house in Paris, Texas. She married Billy Lee Blackburn and eventually settled in North Richland Hills where she resided for over 60 years. She had a gift for caring for children, certainly her own, but also for others that she babysat for in her home while her children were young. After the death of Billy, she worked for the AARP Retired Person’s Pharmacy until retiring. Nathalie was an active member of a number of churches for many years and trained as a lay minister with one of the churches she attended. The strong Christian foundation taught by her mother, sustained her throughout her life. She is in God’s hands now and reunited with many loved ones. No memorial services are planned.
