Patricia Bergmann

Trish Bergmann of Grand Prairie, Texas, died at home on April 8, 2025. She was 72.

Trish was born in Fort Worth, Texas, into a family who moved around a lot to follow her father, who was in sales and marketing. She quickly had to get used to change: Within a few months of her birth, her parents left her with her maternal grandparents for yet another house move.

Her family eventually settled in Johnson County, Kansas. As a teenager, Trish had to fend off her younger sister's attempts to raid her record collection. She graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School and earned a bachelor's degree in public relations and a master's degree in library science from Ottawa University, having a career in both those fields. She also learned medical coding at age 60.

She married Fred Kidd when she was 40 and enjoyed the life they built with their dogs and his children from a previous marriage. They eventually divorced.

Trish had the gift of gab, probably inherited from her father. She had a creative personality, evident in her intricate needlepoint and the numerous stories she wrote. She loved to read, especially science fiction and fantasy novels. She had a special gold card, rarely issued, from the Grand Prairie Library and participated in the monthly book club meetings.

She tended to see the best in people and had a one-of-a-kind laugh. She had a lot to say about others' "antics."

In her last years Trish lived with her adopted Texas family, whose daughters called her Triple G. She was blessed to have found a true home.

Trish was preceded in death by her father, Glenn. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn, Olathe, Kansas; her brother, Kent, Olathe; her sister, Lori (Jodi Schoeck), Lake in the Hills, Illinois; her nephew, Nic (Amber), Olathe; two aunts and numerous cousins; and the Velasquez-Ebersole family (Alex, Stephanie, Lila, Genai, and Juan), Grand Prairie.

There will be a celebration of Trish's life from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at the Center of Unity Church, 1650 Hughes Road, Grapevine, Texas 76051. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the DFW Humane Society at www.dfwhumane.com.
