Patti Lou Leatherby

Patti Lou Leatherby, 82, of Gun Barrel City passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 in Plano, Texas while trying to recover from a long battle with pneumonia. She was born on December 27, 1931, in Chillicothe Illinois, to Lou and Geneva Weaver. Patti was preceded in death by her father; mother; brothers, Darrel, Jim, and Buzz; daughter, Glenda Lemming; son, Chuck Lemming; and her beloved husband Ray Leatherby. She is survived by her sons: Robert, Timothy, and Michael; her daughter in laws: Jessie and Crystal; her “adopted daughter” Tina Whittle; her grandson Andrew Gunnerson and his children; her granddaughter Skylar Brown; and her sisters Barbara, Mary, and Sue. Patti worked for the railroad in her youth and on the switchboard. She managed to work all of her adult life until she retired and still raised 5 children. She enjoyed fishing, collecting antique glass, and reading romance novels, but loved nothing better than the thrill of gambling. Patti was outgoing, very personable, and had the most resilient positive attitude. She was also caring and giving to the limits. Her laugh and spirit will be missed. Patti’s children had a private service where her sons Robert and Timothy played some of her favorite songs and played the guitar.
