Rita Sue Baldwin

August 2, 1949 — August 23, 2025

Lubbock, Texas

Rita Sue (Galle) Baldwin passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025 in Mesquite, Texas. To the end, her unwavering love for the Lord and her family were apparent.

Sue was born on August 2, 1949 to Richard and Howard Mattie Galle in Amarillo, Texas. She married Marshall Baldwin on September 22, 1988 and began their life together in Littleton, CO. Together, they deepened the meaning of the word ‘family’ by each loving the others as their own. Sue was a hard-worker, known to be always on the move with many talents that provided love, stability, and a welcoming home for her family and friends. These qualities include her ability to sew, bake and decorate cakes, as well as watch over other people's children as though they were her own. They moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1994 where they lived until their retirement in 2012. In Lubbock, Sue worked for Edward Jones as a Branch Office Administrator for nearly twenty years. She and Marshall continued sharing their faith through Quaker Avenue Church of Christ especially through their passions of leading their Life Group and the Divorce Care Ministry. Sue made a lot of friends feel at home through her gifts of hospitality, home cooked meals, and delicious pies. In 2012, Sue and Marshall realized a life-long dream and retired together in Angel Fire, New Mexico where they spent their time enjoying the mountains and being very involved in all ministry efforts at Moreno Valley Church of Christ, including regularly cooking for the youth! In 2017, they relocated to Fort Worth, Texas to be closer to family. Sue continued to be known for her ability to make people laugh, the kindness she showed others and her love for being with her friends and family.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Marshall Baldwin (2020), her son-in-law, Wade Sanders (2020), and daughter Deon Best (2014).

Sue leaves behind her children: Rhonda Locke (Brady), Anne Sanders, Evan Simmons (Jacinda), Sandra Simmons, Amanda Simmons and Sharla Jennings (Clint). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Braden Brunson (Olivia), Hannah Brunson, Dallas Sanders (Dayton), Lawson Sanders, Judah Simmons, Jesalyn Simmons, Daniel Jennings (Marlissa), Nikki Scarlott (Darien), Brittany Ramirez (Sebastian), Ashley Best, and Amber Best; and great-grandchildren: Kya Sanders, Lance Scarlott, and Arthur Scarlott.
