| Robert Miller passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026 at home surrounded by his wife, children, and loved ones. He was 81 years old. Robert was born in Vernon, Texas, where he grew up on the Waggoner Ranch and often shared fond memories of his childhood and time spent with his three sisters. He proudly served in the military during the Vietnam era and carried stories from that time with him throughout his life, often down to the exact minute and the countdown until he could return home. After moving to Dallas, Texas, Robert began a long career with the United States Postal Service at the Dallas Bulk Mail Center, where he worked for nearly 50 years before retiring in 2022 as a supervisor. It was during this chapter of his life that he met the love of his life, Sharon Paige Miller. The two shared 38 years together building a life and family. Throughout his career, Robert received numerous awards, recognitions, and plaques honoring his years of dedication and leadership. If there was one thing everyone knew about Robert, it was that once his mind was made up, it was made up. Even during his battle with pancreatic cancer, he remained true to himself. He often said he would “fight like hell,” but if it was his time, he had accepted it because he believed he had lived a great life with no regrets. Many will remember Robert for his colorful way of speaking followed by an even louder cackle of a laugh, or the cigar that somehow never fell out of his mouth. He loved westerns, cars, sports, and spending time with family. His weekends were often spent enjoying drag races or attending any sporting event he could find. More than anything, he was hardworking, protective, and deeply proud of his children. Robert believed in taking care of the people he loved and the people who cared for him, and even in his final days, he never stopped trying to do exactly that. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon Paige Miller; his children Michael Sharp, Nicole Johnson, Jackie Godbois, Ricklan Holmes, Briony Copeland, and Bethany Miller; his children-in-love, Vanessa Holmes and Michael Copeland; as well as his beloved sister, Florida Wiley, and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at a location that is yet to be determined, followed by his burial with military honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on, at 1:30 PM. A repass will follow, with more information to come. We take comfort in knowing Robert is now at peace, and though he will be deeply missed, his stories, laughter, stubbornness, and love for his family will never be forgotten. |
