Roger Lee Workman

Roger Lee Workman went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 7, 2019 in Burleson. He was born on December 16, 1961 in Sweetwater, Texas. Lee is predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Geraldine, his brother Randy and his sister Susan. He is survived by his wife Tricia Workman, son Parker Workman, brother Ronald Workman, sister Sheila Prasek, brother and his wife, Craig and Linda Workman, sister Sandra Greensides, brother Charles Workman, as well as several nieces and nephews. Lee joined the Air Force when he was 21 and proudly served his country for several years, from 1981-1985. He had an exemplary service record and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Lee was a person who had an unquenchable love for adventure. He was always looking to have new experiences and never hesitated to try new foods. This love of adventure led Lee to give bull riding a try when he was still in high school. One day a friend asked Lee if he was interested, and Lee said yes. His bull riding days in the rodeo began. As he had time, Lee even continued to ride while in the Air Force, and he won a few buckles along the way. Anyone who knew Lee knew about his love for the sport of baseball. Lee himself played as a child, all the way through high school. He loved nothing more than watching his son Parker play baseball. Seeing Parker play brought so much joy to Lee, and made him so proud of his son. It was apparent how much Lee loved being outdoors. He would spend time with Tricia and Parker camping at the lake and having fun out on the water on the jet ski. His idea of a perfect evening was grilling and hanging out with family and friends on his deck, or spending a summer night with his family cheering the Texas Rangers on to victory. Lee was a man of quiet Christian faith whose life was centered on family and friends. He had a deep and abiding love for Tricia and Parker. Over the years there were a few men with whom Lee developed an incredible and enduring bond of friendship and brotherhood. Having been born and raised in a Baptist home, Lee had a heart for God that was made evident in the way he made sure that Parker was in church on Sundays and was exposed to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lee is now home with God the Father. As believers in Christ, Tricia and Parker know this is not a final goodbye but a temporary parting. Tricia would like to express a heartfelt and special thank you to the incredible ICU nurses and doctors at Huguley Hospital in Burleson. Their compassion and empathy showed in their loving care of Lee and the manner in which they also cared for Tricia and Parker. The medical staff went above and beyond what would normally be expected of them, and for this Tricia is extremely grateful. A celebration of Lee’s life will be held at Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. His Internment will be held at the Dallas National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
